Conch Shell from Fenwick Island, Delaware

Every summer my family used to go to the beach for a week in August. It was a yearly thing to look forward to. Every summer we would bring home shells as souvenirs, some we'd find and some we would buy at some of the local shops. This shell and all of the others are a representation of all the fond memories and experiences I've had with my family at the beach.

  Arrowhead Collection These arrowheads were found by my paternal grandmother while she was growing up in Newport, Tennessee. We are not sure which tribe or culture of Native American's they were crafted by. My grandmother believes that they are Cherokee, and since the Cherokee used to live in Eastern Tennessee, it's definitely possible. They are a reminder that history goes back further than any of us, I think the mystery surrounding their origins is also significant and part of what makes them interesting.

  White House Christmas Gift Paintings of Washington and Lincoln Howell Gardner Crim, my paternal great grandfather, was born in Sharpsburg, Maryland, and lived from 1898 to 1959, He was a part of the White House staff from 1930 to 1957, becoming Chief Usher in 1938. The paintings were Christmas gifts given out by Dwight D. Eisenhower to the White House staff, Lincoln in 1953, and Washington in 1954. They are prints of paintings made by Eisenhower. He based the Lincoln portrait on a photograph taken by Alexander Gardner in 1863, and the Washington portrait on a painting by Gilbert Stuart. They are framed with wood from the White House itself, at the time much of the interior was being redone to modernize the building.   Spare Propeller for an American Eagle Biplane The propeller belonged to  Jacob Houston Seahorn who lived from 1904 to 1968. He is my paternal grandmother's father and lived his whole life in Newport, Tennessee. He bought the plane as a kit in 1930 and assembled it with the help of a friend. He later crashed the plane and ended up in a coma, which he later woke up from. What was left of the plane was moved to a barn on their property that Jacob had built with his father. Eventually, the plane was sold and taken to Texas where it was restored in 1962. Nine years later in 1971, it was donated to the Wings of History Air Museum in San Martin, California.
